Symmetry

[Hibernation Mode Off]

As pointed out by a friend, I’ve never openly mentioned my beliefs about spirituality and religion. And I don’t intend to either. But I openly believe in karma, and I have valid claim to support my beliefs. I don’t believe completely in destiny, fate or astrology, as your choices determine the outcome of things, but karma is inevitable. I shall attempt to explain why.

Most people may not understand when I mention Karma, and consider it a purely eastern concept, however almost every religion in the world recognizes it, as I’ve discovered, but I won’t go into the details. Essentially, karma implies no action is unwarranted, and with good comes bad and with bad comes good, somewhat like the Yin and Yang of popular Chinese culture. Everyone knows there’re two sides to every story, there’s no life without death, and no sacrifice without worth, however these are superficial.

Part 1: Balance

As a student, one of the first things I ever learnt is that any system is in balance. Forces in particles are always balanced, energy is always conserved, and in a chemical reaction, there can be no new elements formed. Essentially, Nature is in balance. Equality, similarity, congruency, symmetry. All beautiful words and concepts essentially implying one and only one fact: The entire physical universe is always in balance with absolutely no exceptions. Mass and energy is conserved, and assuming the universe to be finite, everything’s always gonna stay in balance.

Part 2: You

From what little biology I know, humans, animals and plants are alive, but are composed of cells, which are in turn, made of chemical components. Though of unimaginable complexity, it is still merely a brew of chemicals. While you’re worried about accomplishing things with your life, everything’s being controlled by your brain, which is just simple cells communicating by tiny electrical signals which have no significance by itself. It’s only when the millions of neurons work together that they produce thought. From a very scientific standpoint, you are merely one giant chemical equation.

Part 3: Complexity

Nothing is simple. A poet once said, “you can see the whole universe in a glass of wine”. Theoretically, if you can analyze the wine well enough, you can find out the structure of the universe. But this brings us to an interesting point. So many things, which are built by smaller parts, increase in complexity. Like a computer which is many compounds of silicon, plastic, etc, but it is still in balance; Perpetual, beautiful balance. Planets, suns, galaxies, all are in constant state of motion, but are still in balance.

Part 4: Life and Interaction

Life, humans especially, in my opinion is the most amazing accomplishment of the universe. Here I am arguing about the universe, and I’m merely one giant complex molecule. So why doesn’t balance apply to us. Sure you are physically and energetically balanced. Force and energy are rudimentary forms of interaction between two bodies. But when you consider humans, interaction becomes a lot more complex. One person’s actions may affect others. Randomness, environmental factors, and other people are merely “forces” on a subject in question. I am making one human a singular unit. These interactions are infinitely more complex and something that we cannot hope to comprehend because of the effects and the exactness are impossible to measure. There’s no way to measure fear, pain or anxiety, but you know it’s there.

So what does all this have to do with the grand scale of things?

If you haven’t figured out already. Isn’t it possible that random and environmental influences, and influences from other entities, that we have so conveniently termed “Luck” is something balanced after all. I don’t want to go into the details of explaining or proving it, but maybe…maybe, everything you’re going through is being accounted for in the grand scale of things. Maybe this is meaningless babble, or maybe there is justice, truth and what you go through today will pay off tomorrow. I personally use this theory to overcome tough times, and difficulties, and so far it’s helped me hold on, and in the end I think that’s all that matters.
