Announcing The release of the OneClick Plugin!!!

Update: This is an old post about the development edition. Get the final version here

UPDATE: This is the RC1 (Release Candidate 1) of the plugin, and not the beta. I just want as many people as possible to test it and make sure it works.

Take your Wordpress to a new level with an easy widget designed to help your work at home, which meshes with your shared web hosting services. Work at home better with the no-double click plugin. Turn off your dedicated hosting and go with web hosting professionals who know how to make seo services payoff.

I’m finally glad to announce the beta RC1 release of my first wp-plugin, the OneClick plugin for wordpress!! This near-revolutionary plugin removes the need to ever fire up a ftp client to upload plugin and theme files for wordpress, and works on any version of wordpress from 1.5 to 2.2. All you do is browse for a zip file on your computer containing your plugin or theme, and with one click(hence the name), it uploads the theme or plugin automatically and unzips it.

Screenshots:
ScreenShot001 The Main OneClick page, conveniently placed at the dashboard. (Click to Enlarge)

ScreenShot003 The List of Plugins showing that only one plugin has been installed: oneclick. We shall now upload another one.

ScreenShot002 Selecting the plugin to upload. (and selecting that it’s a plugin we’re uploading) and click on Upload.

ScreenShot004 A flashy green bar signifying that everything went smoothly.

ScreenShot005 The subscribe-to-comments plugin folder is also shown, and the plugin can be activated

ScreenShot006 The themes that are available and easy deletion of any of them.

I’m so glad that I can do the final wrapping on this plugin. I’ll hopefully be releasing it with the wordpress plugin competition. If you want to try out the beta release, email me or leave a comment. (The ones I sent to sindhu and others don’t have the new features and don’t work as perfect as this one. I’ll be sending you the plugins for testing)

Update: Plugin released. Go get it from here

Found out about this from WebToolsCollection. I’ve been looking for exactly what you’ve created. :)
I’ll be glad to test it out for you as well. Just email me via the one I placed here, or use the contact form at my blog.

Good luck with the plugin competition! With something this basic yet arguably vital among WP users, I won’t be surprised if you eventually win this thing. ;)

Hi Anirudh, Could you please send me the plugin?

This sounds great - how can I download the plugin to try it out?

I’d love to get hold of something like this. Testing different themes and plugins becomes such a hassle when you have to manually upload these via ftp, give us a shout when it’s available. Thx

Hi, I have a blog-network with about 200 blogs. Id really like to try it out, there. This is a MUST have, if it works :D

Ooh, very cool. Just what I need.

    Two questions.

    1. May I have a copy please. I’m happy to play with it.

    2. Can it delete ANY directory in the plugins folder, i.e. even ones without a plugin php file in them? I installed a plugin with a similar tool, but the author left a _MACOSX_ directory in the file and I can’t delete it. If your plugin could, it’d be a lifesaver.

If you could have a “Delete file/directory” text box to type a server path into, that would solve it quite easily and make this totally invaluable to me, and others I’m sure. Could be used for deleting empty cache directories, etc. too. I know its not the point, but would be wonderful to have.

    Thanks.

How about localization? Do you embed all text string in __() _e()?
    I can help with it.
    Your plugin looks great.

Seems like there is no shortage of volunteers, but I thought I might as well throw my hat in the ring too.
Also, just wondering if you are thinking of extending this plugin to be able to instantly upgrade WP itself, I use the Instant Upgrade plugin already but if this was an “all-in-one” package that would be extra Shiny.
