I read today that Intel bought havok, the company that is responsible for all the amazing realistic physics you see in games and some movies. I am actually wondering if they will build in support for Havok’s engine into hardware like aeiga’s physx chip.
Either way, havok will continue doing what it does best: exploding things and making lifeless bodies fly around realistically when the aforementioned explosions take place.
It’s annoying how bigger companies are eating up smaller companies with the entire intention of reaching their longterm goal.
For fu*k’s sake, google seems to have a little shopping cart buying companies left and right. Feedburner, youtube, and that free wiki platform that nobody’s getting an invite for. I really wish they’d make great products and give the independent startups incentive to enhance their products. I’ve been noticing more often than not, google’s more interested in the data than providing the service. In my opinion, they didn’t want feedburner to burn feeds, they wanted to index more and more data.
“Gamasutra has the recent announcement; Intel has purchased Havok. ‘As the firm noted, Havok 5 features enhancements to its core products, Havok Physics and Havok Animation, and introduces new features for Havok Behavior, a system for developing event-driven character behaviors in a game. Some of the games using Havok technology, particularly its Havok Physics solution, include BioShock, Stranglehold, Halo 2, Half Life 2, Oblivion, Crackdown, and MotorStorm – the company is also rapidly developing and marketing further tool products.’ No word on what (if anything) Intel plans to do with its new acquisition.”
It’s exam time. I’d thought of zillions of good post ideas, however I can’t bring myself to write it. Guess I’d rather use my time off taking a nap rather than posting some valuable text millions of internet users.
Okay, the name might’ve been a little misleading, even untrue, but Mattel recalled more toys because they contained lead paints, and there were numerous rumors, most of them false about lead paints and other hazardous materials. Now I’m pretty certain a microscopic amount of lead won’t do all too much harm unless your little kid is repeatedly sucking on the doll or stroking it in which case you have much bigger issues to worry about.
Again, turns out the lead content, as investigation goes on, is because of failing quality of the Chinese vendors.
Or is it? I just hope I don’t unbox a Barbie box to find one of these:
Come to think of it, I hope I never unbox a Barbie box, period.
P.S. I have nothing against the chinese. You guys rock. You make great ipods. I wonder what would happen if mattel outsourced toy design to apple. The iDoll?
Nope, it wasn’t evil alien robots from outer space(see transformers), ex-security heads(see die hard 4), the germans, russians or even the stereotype hot-pocket eating WoW playing h4×0r.
It was supposedly the chinese.
I’m really not bothered who hacks whom, I just wish that the movies would stop labeling so many stereotypes as hackers and the various characteristics of hackers and programmers like their immense dislike of using the spacebar and the mouse.
There are countless articles on what code doesen’t do in normal life that it does in the movies, one of my favorites is this article from drivl.
Moreover I predict a slew of novels and summer blockbusters based on Chinese breaking into pentagon digital security. They’ll probably do it using chopsticks and ancient samurai ipv6 protocols.
I’m getting a lot of email support requests, most of them seem odd, because it seems to be working fine with most people who’ve tried this out. Anyways I try to reply to most of them to make it work. However my exams are coming up now and I will not respond to any support emails.
However if you know your fair bit of PHP, and have managed to make oneclick work for you and want to help people out, please send me an email via the contact form.
I will move oneclick and my future plugins, including inject and voiceover, two new and new concept plugins to DailyWordpress, which is more stable, and is towards a more targeted community. Subscribe to DailyWordpress’ RSS feed for updates. I am also designing a few very interesting new-concept themes, including Peekaboo, the first abstracted-sidebar theme that will be all the rage real soon. They will be launched via PingPulse. Will also make it a point to post more on pingpulse.
More of the future: I’m going to buy a new domain for some other currently unrevealed uses after my midsems.
I’m going to keep this weblog purely personal and start posting a little more regularly about me and the people and things that matter to me. If you’re reading this in an RSS reader, and have no specific reason to be reading this, you’re best off unsubscribing and saving tons of bandwidth. I have about 300 rss readers, while the actual number should be around 10.
PS. Someone suggest a good LCD/TFT monitor via the comments. Preferably 17 or 19 inch. My monitor’s nearly dead and need to get a new one.
Summarizing:
No support for oneclick unless you’re sure you’ve found a bug.
