Ever wanted to sing along with a song but the vocals were too loud, here’s a neat little hack that allows you to easily remove the vocals part from most songs. I use winamp for this tutorial. The screenshots are rather self explanatory
Step 1:

Step 2:

Step 3:

Step 4:

Though this does not work on all songs it works on most of them. it’s also a great tool cause it removes some of the drums and overemphasizes on the rythym guitar. Few bands that I tested this out with:
- Iron maiden – Works
- Children of Bodom: Works amazing
- Megadeth – Works
- System of a Down – Works
- Michelle Branch – Works
- Dragonforce – Works
- Nickelback – Works Partially
- Rammstien – Works Partially
- Pantera – Does not Work
- Queenschrye – Does not Work
- In flames – Works
- Metallica – Works
I know this is a pretty old trick, and there was something cooler, my earphones got partially cut and there’s some loose contact because of which all sound passing through that appears that vocals are gone. Great fun at parties.

This is a new series about how to tell the world about your life via the internet. There’s more to tell the world about yourself than just by blogging. There are several ways you can tell the world about yourself and show off. Tell them a little something more about yourself and find people similar to yourself.
The first service is last.fm, it’s a very innovative service powered by audioscrobbler. You either get a plugin (the old way) or you get an application which detects what music you’re playing and it sends it to the server. This server logs it and weekly calculates your weekly top artists and the songs and music you listen to most. In a few months you’ll be looking at pretty impressive results. It’s also real cool to show off to people. Take for example my last.fm page. I’d been using last.fm even before, though not scrobbling regularly but now every song I play is noted. Now last.fm has tons and tons of features, and since it has bucketloads of data, it can recommend similar artists, give recommendations, it now has social networking features, things to add to your website etc. Lots of fun for this site. one of my favourite web services.
Flickr is the enthusiasm and hope of the web2.0 generation put together. It’s a simple photo sharing site which has become a flagholder in the new interweb march. most people already know about it. You just upload your photos and view everyone else’s. It’s that simple. or is it?
Sharing google calendar events is one way of telling the world when they can call you and when you’re getting your beauty sleep. Basically you can plan your entire day out and and broadcast it. I don’t generally use this, but this is largely overlooked. it’s a great way for busy executives to publish their time as free and busy.
More to come soon.

Windows services are small applications that are essential for many processes to run on your computer and run in the background. All services run with svchost.exe. (more info about svchost.exe can be found here). but most of them are unnessacary and consume valuble memory and slow down your computer. But with a little common sense one can decide what services to stop. This is a simple guide on how to disable and stop services.
DISCLAIMER: stopping any service without knowing what you’re doing can be harmful to your os.
Step 1: Right click on my computer and click on manage
Step 2: Select the services tab
Step 3: Find out what services are running by sorting them based on status.
Step 4: After deciding what services to disable, right click and click on properties
Step 5: Disable the service by using the drop down menu. and then stop it by clicking on stop.
This window should appear for stopping services
A few services which are safe to stop are, but may disable a little functionality:
- Error reporting service. Unless you send an error details to microsoft which doesen’t even have any advantage, you can disable this.
- Help and support. If you don’t use the help and support system for windows you can disable this.
- Machine debug manager: You really don’t need this, unless you’re some kernel debugger, but if you were one, you’d not be reading this anyways.
- Netmeeting
- Indexing service [most people don’t need this]
- remote registry
- Wireless zero configuration (if you’re not using wireless)
Feel free to add more services in the comments section.

I hate the letter ’X’, because when I finally got time to assemble my computer and apt-get upgrade it. Then I restarted the X server and then it gave me an error that X.org 7.1 cannot load the X window input devices and essentially I couldn’t use the computer. Then the Xfree 86 drivers stopped working.
Then I go back to windows and then a program that I need to use keeps telling me it won’t work without directX 0 or above. I sodding have directX 10!!!
And some other stuff happens
My whole life is seeming like one big Xserver error message. Sheesh.
I so hate the letter X.
